Charlie has switched entirely to digital, but I expect to be carrying a digital camera and at least one film based camera to every workshop class. Both of us are using the new Canon point and shoot Powershot G9 as our digital cameras. I expect to be carrying either my Mamiya 7 II or one of my Leica R series cameras as well. The 4 X 5 cameras may also be brought for specific workshops.

We already have a fair number of sponsors including Gitzo/Bogen, Kirk Enterprises, and the Sierra Club. We hope to be able to make donations from our business back to the Sierra Club and the Nature Conservancy.

Please forgive us for working so heavily with digital equipment but we would like to make the business a success and that is where most interest lies at this point. We will be explaining things regarding Photoshop CS3 which will not only be valuable to digital photographers, but also to film shooters that scan their work, particularly from transparencies.

Rich Nelridge

Photokina - "Pro Photography: What's Film Got to Do With It?"

"Combine fashion, commercial, photojournalism and nature photographers together on a stage and the conversation can go anyplace. This workshop will teach you all the basics required to use black and white infrared film.

We will show you how to expose various types of Infrared film currently on the market and how the combination of film and filter choice affect the final result. We will also dispel some of the myths and misconceptions about using Infrared film.

This is a fun day which will start with a brief discussion and presentation of examples of infrared prints. Then it’s out to shoot some selected locations to put the theory to the test.

Participants will need to bring a 35mm film SLR camera plus a tripod. Two rolls of 35mm film will be provided and development of these films is also included in the workshop fee.

Venue: Trim Castle, Co Meath
Date: 16th August 2008
Time: 10:00 to 17:00
Cost: €75"

I was doing some research to determine if there are enough film basesd workshops to create a separate section under the Resources page.

Foto 3: Ft Collins, Colorado June 6-8, 2008

Just wanted to pass along the link to the Fot 3 Conference being held in Ft.
