Back at PMA this past Spring, Fuji announced a medium format folding camera. It looks like it will be sold under the Voigtländer brand name as the Bessa III. According to the website the camera will be available in the spring of 2009.
More details:

http://www.voigtlaender.de/cms/voigtlaender/voigtlaender_cms.nsf/id/pa_fdih7jzkae.html

This looks fascinating!!

CLA in Canada

Over the past year, I have heard a few discussions about the possibility of Rollei service in Canada. My beloved 3.5f has been in need of CLA since the day I bought her. I suspect there was a botched adjustment/repair sometime in her past, but I just couldn't bear to be without her. I waited until Labour Day, and with a busy period of my life starting up, I dropped her off at Windsor Photo Outfitters for some TLC. This is the kind of shop where the proprietors have become friends over the years, and they are always interested and encouraging of my efforts in the film world. They optimistically offered a two-week turnaround. I expected longer, so we will have to see. For owner/tech Adrian Harte, this is a labour of love, so I am willing to share his optimism. Just thought I'd let you know what I'm up to, and I'll keep you posted regarding any developments.

Cheers, Tom

By the way, they can be found at http://photooutfitters.ca

Frequency of CLA

My Mamiya 65mm twin lens in now in for a CLA for the second time since I have owned it. It lasted four years since the first CLA before the shutter got sticky again (although this time it stuck open instead of closed). Can anyone tell me if this is typical of leaf shutters? or in my case, Seiko leaf shutters? It was used (or at least "exercized") regularly. If this is typical, I'd better start budgeting for CLAs for my 80mm, 180mm, & 250mm before too long...
Regards,

jjc

New Medium Format Camera from Fuji

Something interesting in Fuji's PMA press release:

"Medium-Format Film Camera

In a special exhibit, Fujifilm will feature a prototype of a new portable medium-format film camera.
