I'm so excited! The Leicaphile nerds have poopoo'd the M5 so they go for a good price. It's the last Leica made that used hand fitted components, the only one that uses a spot meter and what the heck, not everyone has one. I will be selling my beloved Bessa R now to make room for it.
The main reason I wanted one was because of the workmanship. The same reason I bought a Blad. Other cameras take exactly the same photos, but I'm a craftmanship nerd. I'm also into fine watches too. It's an obsession, what can I say.
But now I can wax poetically about the wonderful bokeh I get with my M5 (even though I use CV lenses) and look down on the apes making lots of noise with their Nikons LOL.

Awesome!!!! I hope we will be able to see some photos from it. It's exciting getting a new camera.

Hi Eric,
Enjoy the M5. All those Leica M camera users just never got accustomed to the larger size of the camera over the M4 with the benefit of the built in meter. I have have enjoyed using R Series since 1984. The Leica glass for both series are wonderful.

Gee, there is actually a guy flying over from Germany to teach me the secret Leica handshake! I'm so pumped! I expect a call from Annie L. anytime now to hangout. Next thing I'll be channeling HCB. If any of you need any advice from him just let me know. I'll ask the next time we connect. My wife is pissed at me cuz I took down the Elvis shrine over the fireplace and have made a new shrine for the M5. I don't know but I think I might have to find an equitable solution the the shrine thing. It was darn cold on the couch last night. But hey, maybe that famous Leica glow will keep me warm! That's it, I will make a special little sleeping bag for the M5 and we can both camp out on the couch together.
