I have up until now souping my Classic 400 (rated at 200asa) in PyroCat-HD. results have been fine but not the look I wanted. I really wanted to get some of that old Tri-X look I use to have in the 70's. So this last roll I shot at 400 asa and souped it in D-76 1:1 for 18 min's. They look terrific! I'm really excited to see how they print.
Just to add some further "atmosphere" to the equation I shot this roll in my Zorki IV, equipped with 50mm Jupiter lens.
Once I have a print to scan I will post it.

There has to be something very satisfying about finding a material that allows us to fully explore and present our vision to the world. I'm looking forward to seeing your prints.

Ok so here is a couple of scans. The log over the frozen stream was taken on an overcast day. My sweetie in our kitchen with bright diffused window light coming in from the side and back. Now remember the Jupiter lens is no Nikkor, primarily I was seeing how the grain developed and how it handled contrast and skin tones. For the most part I think I can do much better in the darkroom and I will be heading off there this PM to see what "develops" (just had to, ha ha).

When I converted them from TIFF to JPEG they lost a lot of luminosity.

Hi Eric,
They are coming close(r) to TriX. but as I recall we always used to get more grain.

The scans are no longer visible. I love Tri-X and have found a good substitute in Foma 200. I think the grain is finer than the old Tri-X, but it looks similar in tone. Try it out. It's great stuff. Great in 4x5 too where we can't get the Tri-X 400.
