Hi All,

I've installed a new Chat Room system, which I hope you will find beneficial. This new chat software works pretty slick, it doesn't use any special software that some systems you may have used to (no Java). It uses a technology called AJAX, which is supported natively on all modern browsers. There are a number of features that may be added in the future, including Moderated chats and a built in instant messenger system.

While I have tried to test this out throughly before I put it up, with only one person to do the testing, it is a bit hard at times. So, if you run into any issues, please let me know, and I'll address them as soon as possible.

To access this new feature, you need to go to the main site, and click on Chat Room from the top level menu system (not installed on the forum yet). From this page you will see the rooms available, there are two main rooms. Only the General Discussion room is open at the moment. Please note, the chat room is only available to forum members, and you must be logged in to access it.

Please provide me any feedback you may have.

Thanks,

Robert

Go ahead, that sounds like a good idea. Once I get the header ported over to the forum, there will be a graphic indicator that lights up whenever someone is in the chatroom, but I think the thread idea will be a good one as well.

How about a thread for now until you are able to install the light bulb.... BTW, how many programmers does it need to install a light bulb?...

I put up a sticky thread last night that people can post to. It will let others know when you are in the chat room. PhotoBob and I talked for awhile, and it seems to work just fine. We will have to get together for some more chats. Anyway, I'll plan on being in there this evening after I get home from work.

I really like this chat room software. Mostly because I don't have to install any Java or other software. This works with the latest browsers (it uses Ajax technology).
