I have to say that I have fell in love with this developer over the last year. I used to be a dektol guy but now it is Ansco all the way.

Anyway I just fond something out about it I did not know before. With Dektol, this stuff would last forever even in powder form and even if I opened I could mix it months later and it would still be nice and potent.

With Ansco I noticed something quite the opposite. If you open the glycin and mix it, within 3 months it is still fine, but if you open it where the air gets at it and mix it say 8 months later it doesn't work, it goes bad as the glycin goes bad. I have been doing a lot of lith printing so my ansco just sat and I went to make a fresh batch, and put the paper in the try and nothing. So, make sure if you use this developer that is you open the package of glycin mix it immediately as it goes bad. Now if you do not open the package and air never touches it, it seem to be fine.

Just thought I would share this with everyone!

I wish you all a Merry Christmas,

Kevin

You had my heart beating there .... I thought we had a new color process I didn't know about.

No worries, I've moved it to the B&W forum.

I keep hearing of this Ansco 130 developer, but can't seem to find it on Freestyle or B&H's website. Is this the same as Formulary 130 developer, or is that something else totally? Is this a mix-it-yourself developer? Pardon the ignorance, I've only used Ilford Multigrade developer (VC) and Dektol (graded).

TIA.

Best wishes,
Sanjay

Yes, formulary 130 is what I use. Just make sure that is you buy it mix it as the glycin will go bad. Once mixed it last a long time.

I've only been using 130 for a short time now, but I can say I am getting tonal range and wonderful highlights like I have never gotten from any other developer.

Great stuff. Match it up with Kentmere paper and it's fantastic.
