It sounds like I might be guilty of light usage. Maybe it's my methodology that needs to be adjusted.

Thanks fot the help.

John

RE: Frequency of CLA
mallard67 (3/11/2008)
Hi jjc,
I use an RB67 almost exclusively, and i'm pretty sure the lenses have a similar construction. How often do you use the lenses? I have been told that you really need to "use" these lenses or exercise them frequently. I have spoken with a highly reputable "friend of a friend" in the past about this who has serviced these for years and said to set the lenses to 1 second exposure and release the shutter a good 10-20 times each month to exercise the mechanicals. Again, I'm not sure about the TLRs but I've heard that the RB equipment should go about 50,000 exposures before it needs to be looked at. Hope this helps in any way.
Thanks Matt. I've been seriously considering getting a use RZ67 - I've wanted one for years, and may just break down and get one this summer.

RE: Frequency of CLA

Hi jjc,

I use an RB67 almost exclusively, and i'm pretty sure the lenses have a similar construction. However, that does seem excessive. I would suspect there is something wrong with that particular lens, rather than all of them.

Frequency of CLA

My Mamiya 65mm twin lens in now in for a CLA for the second time since I have owned it. It lasted four years since the first CLA before the shutter got sticky again (although this time it stuck open instead of closed). Can anyone tell me if this is typical of leaf shutters? or in my case, Seiko leaf shutters? It was used (or at least "exercized") regularly. If this is typical, I'd better start budgeting for CLAs for my 80mm, 180mm, & 250mm before too long...
Regards,

jjc
