Hi Tim;

Nicely done. I agree with you that scanners seem to be the bane of our existence. A photography forum wouldn't be much without scanned images, but we often seem to be at the mercy of those evil devices.

I second Robert's comments regarding the comfort level of shooting portraits. I wish I could do more, but my insecurities hold me back.

Glad to see you. Very impressive portrait; you chose, what I thought was a great vantage point - I could just make out one of the rocks in the background. It has been so many years since I was last in Sedona, but the portrait screamed "Sedona" - of course, I wouldn't have known if you hadn't said so.

I've always wished I was more comfortable shooting portraits ... I can see I'm missing a lot.

I've been away for a while, so thought I'd start a thread to say hello and try to post an image. Still playing with portraits. Two weeks ago I had a call from 38 years ago. It seems someone from high school was able to track me down through work and the internet. Missy's older sister was going to be traveling to Sedona for the weekend and wanted to know if I was interested in a visit. To make a long story short, I met Sandy at the airport in Phoneix and spent a day in Sedona with her (I'm lucky to have a generous and understanding wife). So nice to visit and laugh about old times.

The image was taken on a windy morning with the 4x5 Shen Hao, tri-x 320, 180mm Fujinon CMW then developed semi-stand in pyrocat. I don't care for the way my new scanner (yep, finally broke down and bought a new one) dealt with the image as it is a bit harsh. The print is softer. PWT with dektol and selenium. best, tim
