I generally find people photography somewhat intimidating. I think the fact that I had been focusing on the subject of "hands at work" brought the process more into my comfort zone. And as the musicians themselves were deeply into their zones as well, I was able to get a couple of really dynamic images that day.

Thanks again.

Tom, on Point Pelee, Canada
http://tomovertonimages.googlepages.com

RE: "Candid" portrait

Great image. I think you should do more work like this, candid or not! tim

RE: "Candid" portrait

I think it is a wonderful image, and I love the grain. It gives the image a certain kind of appeal, more warm and more friendly.

I've got a great book at home "Photographing People: at Home and Around the World" by Andre Gallant (he works with Freeman Patterson on a lot of books these days). It is worth a look.

RE: "Candid" portrait

interesting work. This is the only full-face shot taken on a day of candid "hand studies" in a class of music students. (yes, that's an electric violin. :)) I'd like to try real portrait work sometime but it seems to be such a different discipline from my usual work.

Cheers,
Tom, on Point Pelee, Canada.
http://tomoverton.images.googlepages.com
