Too bad he gave up on photography; he is a great guy, and a great photographer.

RE: Just so I am not outdone by Gramps....

Hi Jorge,

Very nice images.

Rich

RE: Just so I am not outdone by Gramps....

Tom, I use the restrainer in the developer technique for printing platinum palladium, so all I really need to do is determine the correct contrast developer and everything else is pretty straight forward. Expose at a standard printing time and use the indicated developer for the acorrect contrast. Of course, I spent some time testing so I could do this consistently.

I have used glasses since I was 10, but luckily only for distance, I am doing pretty good focusing on close subject, so yeah, in that sense even at 50 I don't need glasses for up close work.

RE: Just so I am not outdone by Gramps....

What a wonderful series of images. I love the range of tones. As Robert said, the print must be stunning. Any printing details you'd like to share?

Speaking as a +50 as well, I'm glad to see that your eyes are not going at any rate. I'm at the point that in certain lighting I can't see the settings on my camera. At my age, I think I'd need a loupe to find a little blue pill. :ermm:

Cheers,
Tom, on Point Pelee, Canada
http://tomoverton.images.googlepages.com

RE: Just so I am not outdone by Gramps....
eric rose (5/9/2008)
I resemble that remark LOL. Great images. I like them all! Each one has it's own feel and the whole series hangs together.

Glad to see you can still remember where these places are. It looks like your hike was worthwhile. You are right about how a good backpack makes the job better. I've got a Chamonix and a Photobackpacker case for it - I just stuff it in my backpack and away I go.

BTW, I like the second image the best. I'll bet the contact print is stunning.

Just so I am not outdone by Gramps....

Here is the result from my test of the photobackpacker backpack. This little chappel is in the middle of a ravine where you have to hike for an hour and a half to get to it. The back pack is great, the first time I went there, I was so tired that all the pictures were terrible, what a difference a good back pack makes.
