I just like IE so much better that I find it difficult to use FireFox.

However, there are a lot of good things about FireFox. For example, today I was looking at a photographer's website, and when I loaded the page, it went full screen - I have a 24" widescreen flatpanel monitor, I don't need a browser to run full screen for a 800 pixel image. IE allows it, but at least with FireFox I can control that type of thing.

RE: auto login

Your not up on Firefox. This site stores the data inside cookies, like a lot of sites, but is encrypted. The problem is that, every time the web server recycled itself, which it does periodically clean out memory usage, it generated new keys, for encrypting/un-encrypting. Basically, it was trying to unencrypt the data using a different key than the one it used to encrypt the data. Since it couldn't do so, it deleted the cookie, requiring the user to re-log in. To fix the issue, I made the site use a predefined key, rather then generating a new one. Sorry, for the long drawn out technical answer.

FireFox will delete the cookies much more easily than IE. I ran into that when setting up my FireFox. If you set the browser to clear private data when exiting, it will delete the cookie, and FireFox can be set to expire cookies when the browser exits. Both are set under Tools | Options, on the Privacy setting.

I will keep monitoring with FireFox to see if it could be happening elsewhere. I'm not real up on that browser.

RE: auto login

I use firefox and it does not work for me.

RE: auto login

I put some fixes in last Sunday to address this issue; so far, it looks like it is working correctly now.

RE: auto login

FYI, I use Firefox and the auto log-in is NOT working.

RE: auto login

I've noticed that the auto login will hold until I wipe the history and delete the temp files in Explorer. That leads me to believe the forum software is not creating a proper cookie or that its saving them in the wrong place as I don't wipe the cookies when I do this.

RE: auto login

My auto login stopped working again today.

Craig

RE: auto login

Seems to be working for me too.

Craig

RE: auto login

Hey I auto logged on!! I've been down with a bad case of the flu all week, and have just been too sick to do much.

I'm aware of this issue, but I haven't solved it yet. The forum portion of the site is a custom package that I purchased from a company in England. I have the source code for it, and fixing this issue is on my list onf things that I need to work on.

At the moment, my day job is taking a lot of my time and energy, so I haven't been able to concentrate on the site as much as I would like. Given my contract is due to expire at the end of March, I need to work all I can get to carry me over the period when I'll be looking for another job. Another couple of weeks and things will begin wind down for me.

RE: auto login

me too..
