I don't know ... how about Focus Magazine. Although I really prefer Outdoor Photography (I am a color landscape photographer after all - and I really don't like Joel Myerowitz).

Gee David, you really are obvious. Do me a favor, and don't mention this site in your magazine. I'm really not ready for a large volume of traffic. This site is still in development and I don't have the time to spend all my time managing the forums; I simply have too much work to do just to finish the site.

Ohhh come on...just having a little fun. And that magazine shouldn't be mentioned here anyway, it's not completely traditional.

So, are there any magazines that are being published right now, with the exception of Emulsion, that are completely traditional?

Has anyone heard how Aggie is doing? I would really like to see Emulsion continue on.

I have no problem with Focus magazine, I'm just not into what the world considers "fine art", I find only a few articles appeal to me (like the Peter Lik article). Not a personal reflection on you or your magazine.

I don't have a problem with mentioning it; just don't expect to see it heavily promoted here. At this particular point in time, I don't think there is even a market for a "pure" traditional magazine. Yes, I would like to see Emulsion continue. However, since I have no inside information about Emulsion, I can only consider it "dead". I haven't heard anything from Aggie in months (I told her about this site, but haven't heard a response from her).

You misunderstand the purpose of this site. It isn't to bury our heads in the sand and pretend the digital monster doesn't exist - that would be ludicrous. Digital is part of the modern world - even I own a digital camera, a Nikon D200. No, the purpose of this site is to preserve, promote and educate photographers about traditional materials and processes. Part of that is to creating an atmosphere where we are not bombarded with digital, on a continual basis.

I received an e-mail from her son not too long ago about the status of Emulsion.

This is Agnes' son Timothy. My mother experienced a life threatening episode. All summer she was not feeling well and had a serious bout of infection due to some injections for her knee. then late summer she started having severe attacks. This was not the problem at the time of with the magazine. that was held up due to the people laying out the magazine that one had her sister in law murdered, then the new man who took on the task had his mother die on him. My Grandfather also died shortly after that. The illness became the major problem the first of Sept. She attended a workshop in Montana, and right before was sick, and had an attack on the way home. What was finally found out was a gall bladder that needed to come out asap. The surgeon that did the operation on Oct. 3rd, botched the operation. 6 days later she was in the ICU at the hospital with the main duct from her liver blown out due to the incompetence of the surgeon. She had 4 more surgeries during the next two weeks. It was a month before she was finally able to come home. Both my father and myself are trying hard to keep her quiet and let her rest and recover. If you knew my mother you would know she can't sit still. To see her not able to walk more than a block at a time has us worried. She also developed pancreatitis due to the amount of bile that poured into her mid section. Her lungs were scarred and she still battles reoccuring infections. The new surgeon wants to do some more surgeries, but my mother flat out refuses to even consider a hospital. We took her computer away from her about two weeks ago to force her to not get upset. I don't check her email as often as I should, and will do so more often.

Money has never been the problem with the magazine. I'm sorry my dad and I have not kept on top of it. We were more concerned with my mother than the magazine. The next issue is all laid out and ready to go to the printers. He is backlogged until the first of the year. We should have the next issue out shortly therafter.
