Hi everyone,

It's great to find this site!!

I've not looked through in detail yet, but just wanted to say Hi, and add my support to the movement which is keeping the craft of photography alive.

I reluctantly jumped into digital image making 2 years ago due to winning a camera which could work in B&W, and struggling to afford film for my own work. I have become so bored with digital, and realised that there is absolutely no point in trying to make digital prints like photographs when I can simply shoot film and print the real deal. Thankfully my concerns throughout stopped me getting rid of my darkroom and for some months now I have been back doing what I love : - ))

I also think that my concerns about money in relation to film were somewhat ill conceived. In the digital world of laptops, CF cards, new cameras every 6 months which you must have to get closer to real neg size, hard drives etc, etc I've spent more than I ever would have on tri-x and x-tol.

It doesn't matter what paper/ink combination you use. It's still just ink on paper. It's lifeless, and so completely without soul that I now deeply regret every image I've taken with a digital camera.

The future is bright my friends the future is SILVER!!

Cheers

David

Hi David,

Welcome from Hawaii. Glad to have you with us. I'm looking forward to hearing more about a place that I've always wanted to visit - Scotland. I've only gotten as far north in the UK as Cambridge - still a long way.

I know exactly how you feel about digital. Yesterday, I was shooting with both my D200 and my F6 - just the act of using the F6 felt warm and comfortable, but the D200 felt like I was sitting in front of a computer again (I was using it for my blog).

Glad to have you with us,

Robert M. Teague

An old Hasidic story says we should wear a coat with two pockets in order to receive God's message. In one pocket, the message is: "You are nothing but one of billions of grains of sand in the universe." In the other, the message is: "I made the universe just for you."

Thanks very much guys.

Scotland is a very beautiful country Robert and if you're up for wild weather, wild landscapes and wild people you'll have a great time!! We're just back from the north east and west coasts where we had some amazing days on fantastic isolated beaches - before the rain came out : - ))

Cheers

David,

I just saw your website. Fantastic stuff. Where did I see your street kids of Ukraine before?

Hi David,
