It looks like it will be available sometime starting in October. I'll have to get a couple of rolls to try.

Interesting product! For those of you who shoot color negative and then scan, how do you decide which frames to scan? A contact sheet might help, but I don't have ready access to anyone who provides that type of service. If you drop it off at the local "whatever-mart", and get the roll printed 4x6, are those prints a reasonable basis for choosing the best shots to scan? Or, with color negative, is it that exposure isn't all that critical, and just choose the best composition (with a decent print/exposure) and it will all work out with scanning and post-processing?
Thanks!
Rick

Sweeeeet! This is great news. I have been wanting a color neg film like this for a long time. This will give me the option to finally print wet prints that may come close to cibachromes (maybe). Or if I want to use the hybrid work flow I can do that too. Way to go Kodak.

Rick, I just have the photomat dev and burn a disk of the images. Then I can look at them on my computer and decide which ones I will scan hi res.

Welcome to TraditionalPhotographer Rick.

You can certainly get 4x6 prints done quickly and easily, and as Derek suggests, you can have the roll scanned as well. Either would work fine for your purposes. I personally go the scanned/CD route so I don't have to keep track of 4x6 prints. My local processor doesn't do very good scans however, so I just have to guess which ones I think are worthwhile. A lot of people don't realize that films have become much more scan friendly over the past few years, so I would expect the results from a quick and dirty scan would be good enough to decide which ones to do a high resolution scan from.

I'll be looking to get a couple of rolls of this, once it comes out for a trial. It doesn't look like it will be produced in any form factor over 35mm however, so I don't image it will be a volume seller for Kodak.

Thanks, guys! I've been using Velvia and haven't ever used negative film- it would have some advantages in latitude and range. I'll have to give it a shot when Eftar is available.

I'm going to try it myself, although I doubt it will take my business away from Velvia (I too am a Velvia shooter), mostly because I love Velvia and because this won't be available in 4x5.

If anyone from Kodak is listening, this would be great in 120 and 4x5!

I found a link to some images taken with the new film. It looks quite nice (although some of the scans aren't very good).
