Let's try something different. It isn't quite 2009 here yet, so everyone has a head start on me. Let's post your first photograph of the year in this thread. It doesn't matter how good the photograph is, it just needs to be your first from the year.

Get set ... on your marks.... go....

An old Hasidic story says we should wear a coat with two pockets in order to receive God's message. In one pocket, the message is: "You are nothing but one of billions of grains of sand in the universe." In the other, the message is: "I made the universe just for you."

Not the very first image I made today, but one of the few. Hope it is okay.
Image made from sidewalk on Johnson Street looking towards Blanchard Street today (2009-January-01st)
Set camera with tripod attached on top of fence lip at a construction site - just held there nicely and made the image.

Data
Zero Image 4x5 w/ FL of 100mm @ f/250
Exposure: ~ 45 seconds
Tri-X film that expired in 1982! (We do our bit to recycle eh? )
Metred for ISO of 320 and then extrapolated exposure
Victoria, British Columbia, Canada

Very nice Bob, great work as usual.

I don't think it needs to be the exact first photograph taken, the idea is more of a general one. Thanks for participating.

Here is one of my first shots of the year, taken on the Bridge Stree Pier on Anna Maria Island, Florida.

No tripod, new film (to me), but not a bad start to the year.

Happy New Year, folks.
