For those in the US:

There has been a number of states that have attempted to enact legislation to force business to collect sales taxes from internet purchasers. Up until now, federal law only allowed this for companies that have a significant presence in the state. However, a number of states have interpreted this to include those companies with associate relationships with local websites. This has been an issue in the news lately in California, but is springing up in other states. There is a possibility that this will happen where I live as well. In fact, I've already been notified by Amazon.com of the following:

"We regret to inform you that the Hawaii state legislature has passed an unconstitutional tax collection scheme that, unless vetoed soon by Governor Lingle, would leave Amazon.com little choice but to end its relationships with Hawaii-based Associates."

I'm sure that some here have read and heard about this situation, and I wanted to write to let you know it will have no effect at all on this website (Ken Rockwell has hinted that this type of situation may cause him to shut down his site, which I'm sure many have heard). This change may cause me some techical difficulties, because I do have Amazon.com associate links on the site, but this site doesn't exist as a money making avenue; I do it, simply because I love traditional photography like you do, and because I've felt that some other sites have grown to the point of not listening to its membership.

"Fujifilm remains true to its heritage and to the acknowledged superior image quality delivered by professional photographic film products." -- Fuji Press Release

An old Hasidic story says we should wear a coat with two pockets in order to receive God's message. In one pocket, the message is: "You are nothing but one of billions of grains of sand in the universe." In the other, the message is: "I made the universe just for you."
