I haven't experienced a problem with either FireFox 3.0 or IE.

The problem was really server related, and not browser specific. This site stores the data inside cookies, like a lot of sites, but is encrypted. The problem is that, every time the web server recycled itself, which it does periodically clean out memory usage, it generated new keys, for encrypting/un-encrypting. Basically, it was trying to unencrypt the data using a different key than the one it used to encrypt the data. Since it couldn't do so, it deleted the cookie, requiring the user to re-log in. To fix the issue, I made the site use a predefined key, rather then generating a new one. Sorry, for the long drawn out technical answer.

FireFox will delete the cookies much more easily than IE. I ran into that when setting up my FireFox. If you set the browser to clear private data when exiting, it will delete the cookie, and FireFox can be set to expire cookies when the browser exits. Both are set under Tools | Options, on the Privacy setting.

I will keep monitoring with FireFox to see if it could be happening elsewhere. I'm not real up on that browser.

An old Hasidic story says we should wear a coat with two pockets in order to receive God's message. In one pocket, the message is: "You are nothing but one of billions of grains of sand in the universe." In the other, the message is: "I made the universe just for you."

Yeah, I know I should. I just like IE so much better that I find it difficult to use FireFox.

However, there are a lot of good things about FireFox. For example, today I was looking at a photographer's website, and when I loaded the page, it went full screen - I have a 24" widescreen flatpanel monitor, I don't need a browser to run full screen for a 800 pixel image. IE allows it, but at least with FireFox I can control that type of thing.
